About us

History

From day 1 of its origin, the fascination for the acrylic glass material and the ability to shape it has been the foundation for the Polyplastic Group. Back in 1952, two men discussed the idea they had from looking at a Spitfire airplane that had a nice curved sliding hatch over the pilots’ cockpit. What if we could create a plastic that can be shaped in any form that is stable and lightweight? This was the start of the Polyplastic company trading in acrylic sheets. In 1956 further development was realized by starting their own production of cast acrylics. Thanks to the unbeatable advantages of acrylic, such as low weight and high stability, Polyplastic made a breakthrough in early 1960 in the form of window systems for the caravan industry.

Values and Design Philosophy

The truly unique way of cross fertilization between the production of the raw material, acrylic, to the manufacturing of complete acrylic based solutions is all done under one roof at Polyplastic. This enables us to be first with unique solutions like the double pane isolated windows way back in 1972 or nowadays via our new entity doubleCOOL with double pane isolated doors for refrigerated cabinets. Not only our true customer intimacy approach drives our innovation, it is as much our in-depth application knowledge. Looking at the sunny weather conditions e.g. in the South of Europe and the UV exposure to windows, we have made several rounds over the past years to bring now the best color stability over time by making our own acrylic sheet material extremely UV resistant. It is these kind of examples that illustrate what the Polyplastic Group stands for: challenge the acrylic material properties and shape acrylic based solutions for you!

Core Technologies

Delta Glass production facility is based in Tholen (NL) and is 100% owned by the Polyplastic group and produces Roxite® cast acrylic sheets. In the factory in Rotterdam these sheets are cut and milled, shaped and modeled into panes for numerous models of windows and doors and other specialty products for as many industries.

Engineering and Developing Acrylics is one of the main topics at Polyplastic. Everyday our people try to improve the product they are working on. Adding additives to the base material or pre-treatment give us undisclosed possibilities to improve and work on products for new markets.

With the best UV stability available at this moment of all plastics, cast acrylic with extreme impact quality and anti-scratch coating, Polyplastic underlines its advanced postion.

We care about nature and people

Polyplastic is reducing it’s carbon footprint by providing customers top-line products in collapsible, returnable pallets and boxes minimizing the use of carton and other single use packing material that is otherwise thrown away.We prevent and recycle as many waste as possible.

In our factories most of the heat coming from machines is re-used and at Delta Glass all cooling water is cleaned and re-used in own cleaning system. The acrylic cut-offs are all regranulated and recycled.

Polyplastic was nominated in 2009 “best place to work in Rotterdam”.
